Sony Xperia XA Ultra UK release date: When is the Sony Xperia XA Ultra coming out?

Sony Xperia XA Ultra release date: July 2016 For now Sony has only confirmed that it plans to begin a global launch of the Xperia XA Ultra in July, with no comment on an exact date. As soon as we know more we shall update this article. When it arrives the Sony Xperia XA will join the Xperia X and XA that were unveiled at MWC, when many had hoped to instead see an Xperia Z6. Sony hasn’t confirmed that the Sony Xperia X family has replaced the Z series, stating that it would never say never on the prospect of a new Xperia Z6, but the future doesn’t look overly rosy for the Xperia Z. Also see our Xperia X and XA hands-on review. Pre-orders have not yet begun for the new Sony Xperia XA Ultra, though it is possible to pre-order the Xperia XA direct from Sony and Xperia X pre-orders are said to be coming soon. Mobile Fun has, however, set up a page on which you can register your interest for the upcoming XA Ultra. The price has not yet been revealed, but we’d expect it to be priced somewhere closer to the Xperia XA (£239) than the Xperia X (£459), with much the same hardware inside. Note that the Sony Xperia XA Ultra is the same phone that was previously referred to as the Sony Xperia C6 Ultra and successor to the Xperia C5 Ultra. Also see: Best phones 2016.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra specifications: What to expect from Sony Xperia XA Ultra

The two key standout features of the new metal-bodied Sony Xperia XA Ultra are its large 6in full-HD (1920×1080, 367ppi) virtually edge-to-edge LCD screen, and huge 16Mp selfie camera with an 88-degree wide-angle lens that has both optical image stabilisation and an LED flash. There’s also a 23.6Mp camera with hybrid autofocus at the back. Inside there’s an octa-core MediaTek MT6755 processor with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, plus a 2700mAh battery that Sony reckons will keep the phone going two full days away from mains power (we’ll wait until we see it to believe it). With Quick Charge support (charger sold separately), Sony also says you’ll get 5.5 hours battery life from a 10-minute charge. The XA Ultra runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and measures in at 164.2×79.4×8.4mm. It will be available in Graphite Black, White and Lime Gold.
